The Drunken Smithy team will show you how to make your own SWORD! This workshop is a one-time, intensive, 7-hour, hands-on course and each participant will make one sword. Your sword will be forged from a 1075 steel sword blank and include a crossguard, pommel, and leather wrapped handle. The workshop will take place with any number of tickets sold; no minimum number of participants is required.

Each sword type we offer in our workshops is available in multiple sizes, hence the range of prices summarized below.

Cutlass: $650 – $750

Bastard Sword (Hand-And-A-Half): $750 – $950

Default Sword Sharpness:

By default, all swords will be finished as stage combat sharp (safe to handle and play with). This level of sharpness is included in the project pricing. If you’d like your sword to be fully sharpened (combat-ready), you can opt for a sharpening upgrade for an additional $50.

All tools, raw materials, gloves, safety glasses, and ear plugs will be provided. All experience levels welcome—instructors will help as much or as little as you’d like. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes or boots, and have long hair tied back. It is recommended to wear legwear that is knee-length or longer to help protect the legs from minor burns. This includes but is not limited to long pants, kilts, skirts, or shorts.

This workshop includes a meal (roasted Italian sausages, fruit, snacks, soda/Gatorade) and time at the end to throw axes at the Drunken Smithy throwing lanes. Although we are called Drunken Smithy, please keep in mind that alcohol may not be consumed prior to or during this workshop.

We require a $325 non-refundable deposit at the time of reserving your spot and the remaining balance, based on what you choose to forge, is to be paid the day of the workshop (paid onsite). When you pay the remaining balance, we impose a surcharge of 2.3% on the transaction amount for all credit, PayPal, and Venmo payment methods. There is no transaction fee for payments made with cash or Drunken Smithy gift certificates. 

Spectators are welcome! No charge/no ticket required for anyone who just wants to watch and take photos from the viewing area.

Drunken Smithy is wheelchair-friendly and welcomes participants of all ability levels. The only restriction we have is that oxygen tanks are not permitted in our forging area or the copper and silver workshops areas.

Our workshops are designed for adults, and we welcome participants of all skill levels. If you are interested in registering a minor, please review our child policy first to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Have a gift certificate?

Add the ticket(s) to your cart, then type the Voucher Code from the bottom left corner of your gift certificate in the box that says “Apply Coupon”. Proceed to Checkout and your reservation confirmation will be emailed to you. If you have a balance remaining on your gift certificate, you can use it in person to pay the rest of your workshop fee.
